A Greater Mind and You

You are a field of consciousness, interwoven within a much larger field of consciousness. This interwoven field of all consciousness is often called, ‘Collective Consciousness.’ I also like to call this “The Greater Mind.” That’s an aspect of why I named my website greatermindintegration.com

You are influencing the Collective, and the Collective is influencing you. This is true whether or not you are aware of it. Intentional (on purpose) consciousness has greater influence on the collective than unintentional (accidental or unknowing) consciousness; but both affect the whole.

The All That Is of consciousness, The Greater Mind, has infinite potential. You can intentionally focus on whatever part of that field you want to. You are only limited by what you think is available to you, and the limit of your imagination.

All consciousness influences all consciousness.

There is intelligence in every cell of the body. Your body is an organization of cells that each serve a special function within the body system.  The body needs cells, and cells need the body. Neither exists without the other.

The same is true for your consciousness. What you experience as ‘individual’ consciousness is needed for the functioning of The Greater Mind, and The Greater Mind is needed for the functioning of your individual consciousness. Neither exists without the other.

A cell in the liver might not be aware of a cell in the lung, and yet they influence each other, are affected by each other, and function in one organism. In the same way, we are influencing, influenced by, and functioning as part of The Great Mind/Collective Consciousness, even if we’re not aware.

In the same way, we “individual” human beings may think we are separate from each other, and separate from the rest of the universe, but we are as connected as cells in the same body.

As you seek, so shall you find.

Phases like, “You are only limited by what you think is possible, or can imagine,” might sound like shallow clichés on motivational posters. Rather than being shallow, they point to fundamental properties of reality.  The collective consciousness is a ’field of data’* that reflects the sum of everything that its members (you, me and everyone else) are thinking, feeling, being, and so on.

  • Whatever you give your attention to is what you’re aligning yourself with.
  • What you align yourself to aligns you with more of that same thing.
  • You begin to literally ‘line up’ with whatever you’re paying attention to.
  • What you’re lined up with keeps showing up.

That’s how the famous “Law of Attraction” works.

Typically, you will pay attention to what is most familiar or expected. Even though the ‘field of data’ contains all potentials, you wear a kind of ‘filter’ than allows you to see only those things that you are willing to see. Your willingness to see something is developed based on your beliefs about what is “possible,” “true,” and “real.” You filter out the things that you’ve decided aren’t possible.

Because you’re filtering out anything that doesn’t fit your expectations, you only see what is familiar. You only allow yourself to see those expected things, so believe even more strongly that they are the only “possible, real, and true” things.  If stuff you don’t want stays familiar and expected, it keeps showing up in your life because it’s the part of ‘reality’ you’ve trained yourself to look for.

In order to start paying attention to something that is unfamiliar and unexpected, like the new thing you wish to create in your life, you need to muster up considerable imagination and willingness to see to things differently. Because you have already surrounded yourself with the manifestations of what’s familiar and expected, it will take self-discipline and imaginative strength to start paying attention to something new.

Conscious *intention is more energized than habitual, unconscious intention. Habitual, unconscious intention doesn’t have as much power as ‘Setting Intention’ in a conscious way.  But even unconscious intentions become stronger over time, due to repetition and habit. Remember, just because you are experiencing the effects of piled up old beliefs, doesn’t make them more “real” or “true” than the new thing you are in the process of creating. Both are equally real. One is just more familiar, and habitual.

Setting clear, energetic intentions is powerful because they hold the energy of focused consciousness. Clear Intentions can punch a hole right through a stagnant pile up of old habitual beliefs. Once you allow yourself to open your filter to see new possibilities, you’ll start lining up with the new things you want to experience.

*Intention – conscious or unconscious expectation for an outcome. It’s what you’ve agreed to let into your life, because you expect it to happen.

*Setting Intention: Making a clear and energetic statement of what you want in your life.

*Field of Data – everything you can potentially observe.

*Filter – the predisposition, habit, to pay attention to one kind of data, rather than another. Filters are developed based on beliefs, usually unconscious assumptions, about what is “real” or “true” or “possible.”
